My passion for photography has started after my granddad gave me a camera called Druh (name translates roughly to Boys Scout), manufactured in Warsaw shortly after WWII. It happened that it was also my mom’s first camera. I’ve been taking pictures ever since.
As a side project I do maintain a stock photo portfolio. The thing that I am missing the most in creating images for commercial use is capturing people’s personalities. For me Snap Lounge is a fantastic outlet for creating personal, up-close and unique photographs of our clients.
I try to implement a variety of different styles into my photographs. I do enjoy simplicity, and expression of black and white images. At the same time I try to push the limit of bright vivid colors and luminosity captured by modern camera.
I was born in the heart of Poland, right on the brink of the collapse of the communist regime in Central Europe. I can still recall the martial law period with massive steel tanks rolling on the streets, empty shelves in stores, and heavy TV propaganda. The time period of the early 80’s was characterized by visually monotonous colors. Grays & blacks were common colors to wear. I still come back to this pattern in my approach to photography. There is something fascinating about seeing the world in monochrome.
Some of my greatest influences in photography are Eadweard Muybridge, Tomasz Gudzowaty, Dorothea Lange, Ansel Adams, and Helmut Newton. All which have inspired me to do what I do today. I currently live in the Denver, CO area.
